Object Remembered State

Jun 03, 2022

Hello,

Has anyone had luck getting Storyline to remember the previous location of an object with a multi-step motion path?

I've got three questions in a row in my test file. I want to see if I can get storyline to remember what the motion path it previously took to show up on the next slide.

Right now, I've got things set up where the moving elements are on a the master slide because I hoped that would help it remember, but no luck.

I appreciate any advice.

Hey Matthew -

Here's a quick idea for how you might approach tracking and revisiting points on a motion path: https://360.articulate.com/review/content/e46ec14b-d7b4-403d-a79e-e96472a9ef3c/review

The idea is to use the object intersect trigger combined with a variable to track specific points along the motion path. The points in my example are oval shapes but they could be invisible shapes or hotspots that the learner never sees.

Check out the attached source file and let know if something like this could work for your project.

Hi David,

So, are you saying I could set this up so that:

  1. I could pause a motion path when it intersects with another object on the screen.
  2. Set the slide to remember a saved state.
  3. Send the user to a slide to answer questions.
  4. Return the user to the saved state slide.
  5. Have a variable that continues the object's motion path until it intersects with another object?

Is that possible?

Thank you,

Matt.
