object state is not updating for some reason
Sep 20, 2020
hello everyone, i am creating a game and my inspiration was “Abby Goes to the OBGYN,”
everything is going good now but i have problem with (updating the state of the object) when using previous slide command.
Khaled is a an employee , he gets popularity point when he help other co-workers . and he get hated if he refuse to help when they ask for it (examples : a software simulation - answering a question).
kahled will be kicked from work if he refused to help 3 times
if khaled refuse
1- move to refuse-slide
2- update hate variable
3- if hate variable = 1 , show hate object state 1
the problem happens when i add (move to previous slide)
it shows everything at 0
i tried to put the bar on a master slide , still the same :(
i am still working on the functionality more than the appealing now but this is how the bar looks like

the reason why i use (move to previous slide) is i want the user to go back to where he refused the do the task
it goes back. But it didn't update the bar stat
i wish i was clear with my explanation <3
This is the reason it doesn't work:
1- move to refuse-slide
2- update hate variable
Once it moves to refuse-slide, it cannot read the next step (2. update variable).
To make it work, you must update variable before you leave the slide (jump to refuse slide).
hello walt thank you for responding
i tried to do what you advised me to do still the same :(
(task slide) have 3 layer:
1-base layer (the favor= asking for help)
2- not helping layer
3- accepting the task layer (send to software simulation sceene)
base layer if clicked (not helping) rectangle he will go to not helping layer
on not helping layer i updated the hated var
- when timeline start on this layer >> add value 1 to hated
- when timeline ends on this layer >> jump to slide (refuse)
on refuse slide : ( the red slide)
- change the stat of picture to hated 1 >> if hated = 1
- change the stat of picture to hated 2 >> if hated = 2
- change the stat of picture to hated 3 >> if hated = 3
- when timeline ends on this layer >> jump to slide previous slide
i found the solution from (related content) near my post
<3
just for refrences :
the solution is at :
https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/bringing-value-from-previous-slide-to-the-next
so if you want to do what i am doing you need 2 things
1- slide triggers
2- var triggers
i was having the var triggers but i forgot about slide triggers
also i would like to add something :
a better solution is to add variable tracking method is to use the triggers in a master slide to track (health points / starts / chances . hated faces ... etcs )
