Object triggers to jump to new slide : slow to load

Oct 23, 2013

hi there

I'm using a menu page to advance users to course sections (stories).  To advance, I am using object triggers (jump to slide xx).

When I preview the project it all works just fine.

When I upload it to Absorb to view as a learner, it is unacceptably slow.

Layer triggers within the various slides are working as expected though.

I've used exactly the format on a course that I loaded up a couple of weeks ago and just checked that , it works fine.

The commands are identical, the scorm versions and reporting are identical. I've removed background images on that menu slide in case that was an issue.. any advice as to what to check next??

thanks

Sacha

Hi Sacha,

I'm not familar with Absorb, but you could also test it at SCORM Cloud to see how it operates there. If the behavior isn't replicated in SCORM Cloud you'll want to connect with the team at Absorb and share those results with them.  Have you checked to see if there are any differences between the content in the two courses - possibly this one has a lot more audio/video or images?

Thanks for that Ashley.

I did some further checking and I think the difference appears to be that the slides I am preparing now (the course sections, not the menu slide itself) have a higher number of layers than the course I am using for a baseline comparison; and have more objects on their base slides. I've checked the file sizes of the objects and they seem to be on par at 3 - 5KB ea, but there are 10 - 12 per slide, whereas in the past there have been 5 - 8.

Initially I thought it could be the background image I was using but took this out and no material change has been observed. I'm wondering if there are any best practice guidelines on content or layer limits for each slide?
