object won't switch to normal state

Greetings.  I'm using Storyline 360 on a Windows 10 ThinkPad - specs in attachments.

I want my next button to appear when all 6 of the images on the slide are in the selected state.  I created triggers to change the state of each image to selected when the user clicks it.  I added triggers to all of the images to show their associated layers.  Then I created a trigger to change the state of the hidden Next button to normal when all 6 images have been selected.

I started out using a button, but had the same problem, so I changed my Next button to a shape to simplify things, I hoped.  Nope!

I've done this same operation many times in the past and am confounded. What am I doing wrong here?

Hi Michele

first off I would remove all triggers to change the state of the images as SL knows what to do with built in state. e.g. when the user clicks an object it becomes selected, when they move to another object that object becomes selected and the previous one visited.

So, in your case, I would delete all the change state to selected triggers and  add a visited state. Then, because you are not closing the layers and the user can do them in any order, I added the yellow next button to each layer and a trigger to change that button to normal when all the images are visited.
