Odd Bars Across Top and Bottom of Storyline Asset when imported to Rise Online Lesson

May 14, 2020

Hello,

Wondering if anyone else has run into this issue. After creating a file in SL 360 and importing it into Rise online, bars appear above and below the SL asset. Changes based on the player I select (Using Modern Player, Black with Dark option, White with light option) and doesn't matter if the file is built in 4x3 or 16x11.  also does not appear to be browser related as it shows in either Chrome or Firefox.

Thanks

Hi Dave,

Thank you for reaching out! Let's see if we figure out what is taking place here.

A couple of questions for you on this:

  • Is this in reference to a Storyline block in Rise 360?
  • Are the bars appearing in the Storyline course in Rise or is this happening in the interface?
  • May I ask if you could share a screenshot of the issue?

Hi Vincent,

I have sorted out a work around. Basically it was happening in a Storyline Block in Rise 360 whether the file was 4x3 or 16x9. I was seeing either black or white "bars" maybe 15 pixels thick top and bottom of the SL asset. Work around is to make sure the background is white in SL turn off all controls and then code Rise 360 to have a #ffffff colour background. I think the bars are still there but not visible. It comes back if I change anything to a colour other than white. I made some adjustments so you can see the issue.

See attachment.

Hi Dave!

I'm glad you found a workaround!

We released a bug fix in Storyline 360 Update 38 (Build 3.38.21779.0) that eliminated the border that appears in the Storyline block in Rise 360. I've tested a sample project using Storyline 360 Update 39 (Build 3.39.22088.0) and didn't see any additional padding.

Which version of Storyline 360 are you using?

I took a screen recording of what this looks like on my end. Here's the link!

Please keep me updated if you see anything different!

Also, not sure what is happening but when trying to update SL 360 the install hangs and never completes. I have uninstalled everything, redownloaded Articulate 360 and tried to reinstall. I also cannot seem to remove a Storyline 3 trial. Support supplied me a bat file to try and resolve the issue but to no avail. A little frustrating.

Hi Dave,

Sorry to hear the bat file didn't help you. I found the case where you were working with my teammate, Georvy, on troubleshooting Articulate 360.

I encourage you to reply back to him in regard to the last steps he gave you so that we can get to the root of the issue! I'll be sure to also share with him what you mentioned in this discussion so that he is aware.
