Offset placement between slides

Apr 20, 2014

Hi all, lovely to find this site. I am a BRAND NEW user of Storyline (1 week), but loving it. I do have a problem though. I needed users to be able to start typing immediately into a text entry field without first having to click it. Somewhere I found advice to place all objects on the master slide, with the exception of the text entry field which is placed on the slide on its own. It works brilliantly, and I have around 6 slides that are built this way. The only problem is that these six slides are appearing slightly offset from the remaining slides. You can definitely see it happening, those 6 slides appear to be slightly higher and to the right from the rest. I've used the size and position feature to check the objects on those slides compared to the others, but the position measurements are all showing identical. For the life of me I can't figure out how to have all slides align to the same position. I hope I'm making sense, as I said, I'm a new user so I haven't yet mastered Storyline speak but I'm hoping someone can help me.

Hi Kim and welcome to Heroes!

I'm glad to hear that you're loving Storyline so far! In regards to the behavior you're seeing, I'd want to check into two elements. First, are the slides you're working on being viewed with 100% zoom? If not, you'll want to make sure while you edit them to use that setting or else things may look misplaced or distorted while editing and then appear moved if you preview or check the published output. You'll also want to double check that you're using a DPI setting of 96 as described here.  Lastly, it's always a good idea to check that you're working with local project files as working on a network drive or shared drive could cause unusual or erratic behavior.

If all of those elements check out and the behavior persists, please let us know and share your .story file so we can take a look.
