On failing quiz, learner must take course again

Mar 21, 2013

I have a quiz that requires 80% to pass. The results page is the second to last page. Here is what I'm trying to do:

- If you pass, click Next to access the Thank You page

- If you fail, you need to retake the course

I'm pretty certain I'm not the first person in the forums to post on this topic.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

I don't see anything I can use when I edit the results page. Nor do I see anything I can use when I create a new trigger.

Should I be digging in to Conditions?

Hi Kelly,

Another thought that I think will work. You said Learners must achieve 80% or retake the quiz. So, when you insert the Results slide, leave it at the default setting, which is a passing score of 80%.

Then, add the Allow User to Retry quiz button (From Options in the Results Slide Properties). And, you may want to delete the Review Quiz buttonĀ  on the Results slide- not sure. Anyway...

Back on the Results Slide, you may notice that the trigger is set, by default, to show the Success layer when the timeline starts if the Results.ScorePercent is greater than or equal to Results.PassPoints (which is 80%). You may want to go to that layer and hide the Retry button in the Base layer of the timeline

Learners will click next and arrive at your Thank you slide.

By default, the Failure layer will display if the Results.ScorePercent is less than Results.PassPoints. And, the retry button is showing here.

Learners will need to click Retry.

So, one option that may work.

Hi Kelly,

Sorry for misunderstanding. So, looking more closely at your original post (3/21/13): If you fail, you need to retake the course

do you want them to go back to the very first slide in the course? If so, can you just insert a button on the failure layer with a trigger that brings them to the first slide? Is that what you're trying to achieve?

If not, hope someone else can jump in.
