One Red Number in Bullet Point List

Aug 01, 2014

Hello All,

I've got one red number in my bullet pointed list and no matter what I do I cannot get rid of it without colour altering all of the text.

I've tried re-importing the slide, using Word/PPT to try to edit the text and copy & paste back across. Also attempted reformatting the box and deleting the number. When I do delete the number it instead replaces '35' with a red '35'

Any suggestions?

Hi Joshua, unfortunately the only fix will change all the text to a single colour which will make you hyper links look odd, I have never seen it happen in the middle of a list.

You could try selecting lines 35 through 37 and adjust the colour (select from outside of the 35 and drag), this is related to storyline not closing the tags.

If you can paste that single slide It may be possible to fix

I've seen this before, and for me it was linked to blank spaces at the end of the line which are formatted in a different colour.

You won't see the blank spaces, but it will affect your number or bullet point.

I've just tested it out on a blank slide, and the spaces at the end of the line could certainly be causing your problem.

it only seems to happen when you have two spaces at the end.

to fix it, I place the cursor after my last character on the line, and then shift and right arrow to select anything after the character. I then format the selected spaces to the colour they should be.

On a plus point, this is a great way to format your numbers or bullets so that they are a different colour to your text.

Hi Joshua,

I also haven't seen it previously in the middle of a list just as Phil mentioned, and normally you find it at the end of a bulleted/numbered list as detailed here. In the thread that Joanna linked to, you'll see the solution for the bullet/number at the end of the list.

If you're still having difficulty with it, are you able to share a copy of your .story file here with us?
