One screen shot multiple mouse clicks
Nov 04, 2015
Hi,
I'm creating a walk through tutorial of a software process as my first dive into Storyline 2 (newbie disclaimer). I would like to have three mouse actions on one slide (a screen shot).
(Mouse starts and moves to username box)
Action 1: Click on username name
(Mouse then moves to password box)
Action 2: click on password
(Mouse then moves to enter button)
Action 3: Click on enter
I can't figure out how to do more then 1 mouse action, nor have I found a tutorial about it, which makes me think that this isn't possible.
Any help is appreciated,
Thank you.

Just screen record 3 videos of the mouse moving to the username box, then a second to click on password and finally to enter button. Then separate each clip on either a slide or on a slide layer. Slides would probably be easier as you're just getting started.
You could even use the recorder built into storyline 2 under the insert tab. Then just use the software on screen to record and it will track your clicks and separate the video segments for mouse movement by slides. When you're done recording it will give you the option to make your simulation a watch-it or try-it. Check out this post for more info--> Altering Mode on Screen Recordings
Thank you for the response. That makes sense. The next wrinkle:
If I wanted narration over the 3 steps as they happening, is my only option
to screen capture and save as a single slide video (slide by slide mode
removes audio commentary if I'm correct).
I'm not 100% sure if that's the case with slide audio but, one way to avoid that issue is to move those captured slides into slide layers that are a part of the same slide. You can just cut and paste the content from the slides to slide layers you create on the initial slide. Then show the slide layers you need to as you click on each click point. You would need to set each slide layer to hide the base layer when it is shown. That option is accessible via the cog icon to the right of each slide layer label.
Hi Teddy,
Using step by step screen recordings does remove the audio as you mentioned. So looking at including it as a video on a single slide would be option one - otherwise you'd need to look at recording the audio separately and inserting it on the slides.
