Hi Anika!

I'm keen to help and see if we can spot a trend. A few questions:

  • Are the affected learners using the same browser to view the content?
  • Is the course hosted on a web server or an LMS?

In the meantime, could having the video open on a layer instead of a new browser window work for your design?

Multiple browser windows could cause problems with navigation or the server/LMS. This approach can help learners remain in the course. I mocked up this example to show you the structure.

Let me know what you think!

Hi there, Anika!

Thank you for those clues and your feedback!

Check out this short video on how to set up a video on a layer. I also attached the Storyline file if you'd like to see the bones.

Let me know if that helps!

And if you end up needing to have the video play in another window, would you be willing to share your .story file for testing? I'd like to test the course in another LMS environment like SCORM Cloud to see if the issue happens there. You can use this private upload link.

That is very helpful! Thank you!

One question: Will embedding a video like this enlarge the file? I'm asking because this will be in a multi language training. We have 12 scenes (one for each language), so the video will be embedded 12 times.

I just don't want to crash the system when we assign it to all learners :)

Hi Anika!

Glad this could work, and good question!

Will adding a video from a website or file enlarge the Storyline file?

This could impact the file size. An alternative is to embed the video as a web object. This should help keep the Storyline project size small.

I'm attaching a sample file with a web object set up. Let me know if you have any more questions!
