I have a little bit of a similar issue. I upgraded from the original Storyline (I know years later) and I have a published file and for some odd reason isn't in My Articulate Projects folder on my desktop. I only have the published file in there. I can no longer open the original Storyline software, only Storyline 3. Is there a way someone in IT can retrieve the file for me in my old account? Thanks.
Happy to help! Another location where you might find a working version of your project is in your temp files. Here's how to check:
Open this folder in Windows Explorer: %appdata%\Articulate\Storyline
Scan the contents of this folder for a file that starts with the name of your project. If you find one, copy it to your desktop. If you find more than one, copy the latest version to your desktop.
Change the file extension of the copy on your desktop from *.tmp to *.story.

The publishing phase produces a folder of html and support files. Have you opened the story.html or story_html5.html file in your web browser?
Hi Brian
I have some of my old published files that I did for someone and want to open them to edit them
Hi Mark,
You wont' be able to open and edit a published file. You'll need the original .story file to be able to edit it.
