Is there a way for the user to open a PDF from a slide in Storyline? I've tried creating a button, when the user clicks it either opens the file or I've posted it online and had it open the link. When I publish the item never opens. Any ideas?
Yes, add the document to the resources....add an action to jump to url on the button. And use this as your URL, where Name_of_the_file.pdf is tailored to your specific file.
Actually, you don't need to add it to resources. All that is necessary is to use the jump to file trigger, making sure that the file is accessible to you. Then when you publish, SL makes a copy of it and puts it in the /Story_content/external_files folder, and it's all part of what gets uploaded to the LMS.

Casey,
This could be a browser pop up issue.

//story_conetent/external_files/Name_of_the_file.pdf
Should the URL actually be //story_content vs //story_conetent ? Looks like a typo but wanted to confirm
HI Edie,
I don't know if Ron is still subscribed here, but yes my guess is that's a typo on his part. Take a look at our directions on using that set up here.

Will you be able to open the PDF from Articulate Review, or only from the LMS? It's not opening for me in Articulate Review when I preview it...
Hi Therese,
Yes, you should be able to open a PDF in Articulate Review--here's an example you can test!
Where is your PDF stored, and how did you link it in the Storyline file?
