When I select the option 'hide objects on base layer' while working on the layer, the objects of the base layer become invisible. But when I preview the slide, the objects of the base layer are still visible when I turn on the layer. I tried to undo the option and select it again, but the objects are still visible while previewing. What could be the problem?
Was there a solution to this problem? I am just discovering the same issue. I have an exercise that consists of layers and sates -- so it is complicated. My base layer is still appearing when I click a button to display various layers. So weird. Thanks for any insight on this.

Please make sure you are working locally as described here.
You could also try and import this into a new file and see if this corrects the issue.
Also, if you would like, you could attach the file here for us to look at.
