Option to ask user to download the Flash player

Jul 23, 2014

Is there a way to create a link to download the Flash player when a user accesses a course. During testing I had a user who did not have the player installed (browser Firefox, platform Windows7) and it presented the HTML5 version of the course instead. The client wants users to use the Flash version whenever possible.

I have checked the documentation and forums. Is this possible? I have looked and the Javascript by it seems that if flash is not detected and the HTML5 version is present the course will default to HTML5. Can I give users the option of choosing which version they want to see?

Hi Randall,

You're correct, that if the user accesses the course without Flash, and you've published for HTML5 it'll default to that if the browser supports it. You can't force the Flash content, as it's be default when you point to the story.html link. You may want to include a note prior to the course (on hte web server or LMS) that indicates the user will need Flash to play the course - or if you don't include the HTML5 option, then when the course won't open as expected it may trigger the user to download Flash. You could also point all your users to the viewing requirements detailed here.
