Output is suddenly blurry

Mar 08, 2017

Hello,

Today I exported a Storyline file which I've been working on for months with no issues. In today's export, the fonts, images, and player as a whole appear blurry. I'm not sure where this came from or why it is happening. I believe the only thing I tweaked yesterday was to have the text wrap in the navigation on the left.

I'm confused, and worried, because the final product is due soon and I'm not sure how to resolve this.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Joseph! Thanks for reaching out.

My first thought is that if you're testing locally, rather than uploading to a web server, that may be what's causing the bluriness you're seeing. You'll want to make sure to upload your published output to it's intended environment to test it properly.

A quick and easy way to test content published for Web is to upload it right to Tempshare. This is a free tool that will create a temporary internet link for you to view your published course on the web.

And since you mentioned the client wants to distribute the training via flash drive, I would recommend publishing for CD. Then you'll want to double-click the Launch_Story.exe file in the published output to view the course.

Give that a try, and let me know if you see any improvement!

Hey Joseph,

Great observation and a valid concern! You're right, since executable files aren't compatible with Mac computers, your content won't automatically launch. You can manually launch CD-published content on a Mac by double-clicking the story.html. However, local security restrictions may prevent your published output from working properly. To ensure it runs properly, you'll also want to add the folder where the course is located to your local Flash Player Security Settings on the Mac.

That being said, we do recommend publishing for web, Articulate Online, or LMS for the best viewing experience on a Mac so it may be worth looking into one of those options with your client, if feasible.
