Output stops while playing / HTML5 / Videos won't play after some time

Oct 24, 2017

Hello Community,

we have a problem for which I don't even know how to search for solutions. So I hope someone can help.

(I would have posted the program here, but it seems to be too big.)

I have created a simple but effective "loop", which I will describe in the list below. However, it seems to stop working after half an hour or so. After that, not even the single videos are playing. I myself haven't seen the error, only my colleagues. So I hope I can explain what is happening with the limited informations I have.

The course is published as html5 with flash fallback, and we use the html5 file, as we have a little bit more code so that the output is shown truly borderless. All files are accessed locally. It is shown on a Windows computer Stele with touchscreen functions. While testing on my computer, I haven't encountered any errors. Slides are set up as to start new rather than continue on a next open.

Is it maybe because of a problem with some kind of cache?

A click on our logo on top brings the user back to the start screen (1.a)

1.a Start Page
> Here, a long video will play automatically. The user can click the "next" button to get to the next screen. If the media ends before that, the program will change to Slide 1.b, which is essentially the same page as 1.a. This was my solution for the looping video.

2. Products
Here, the user can choose between 4 pictures that can be clicked and a movie starts int the movie screen.

3. Interactive
This page starts a web object, which essentially is another storyline output. Since these have been developed independently, this was the easiest and quickest way to implement.

3. Explain Picture
Also a web object.

4. References
Here, the user can click on the logos of our recent customers and can watch the movie we did for them. ((This is one of the broken parts, as far as I know.))

Thank you!!!

Hello Arnulf,

Sorry to hear that you are having difficulty with your course.

I have a couple of questions to clarify how you are viewing your course:

  • How are you publishing and sharing the files with your learners?
    • You mentioned HTML5 file and local viewing, but if you are publishing for LMS or Web you want to be sure you are uploading to this environment.
  • What do you mean the output stops playing? The user navigates, but the media does not play? How long is the course since you mentioned the magic number seems to be half an hour? Is this with no activity?
