Over Zoomed Layers and Slides??

Jun 20, 2018

Within the attached image, this is actually what I see when I click on a link to show a new slide. It is super zoomed and I lose focus of the player/menu. I didn't set up any zoom (as I don't know how to do that yet!).

When I test preview or test my course locally I have no issues, however, when I view project or upload my course I have strange ZOOMing happen to some of my layers and slides. It appears to only happen on certain ones??

I have tried a variety of browsers and still the same?

Any suggestions on what is happening and how I can resolve?

Thanks,

Nichola

Hi Nichola,

I haven't run into anything similar, so I'd agree with Tom it would help to have a link to your course so we could take a look! If you'd like to connect with our Support team, you can connect with them here.  Upload a copy of your .story file and a link/URL to the course and they can work with you one-on-one.

Thanks everyone!! Ok something else weird is happening....

1. Notice the numbers at the side of the menu, normal right?

Now click on <System directions> Look at the menu numbering??? What just happened??

2. Click on Employee Performance Policy> Click on Performance and Development cycle. This should display a lightbox. but it shows a really LARGE lightbox, which I can't close??

If I wait 5 mins it reduces size again?

I have attached the storyline file and also a link to what I have published.

ANY help would be appreciated.

Hi Nichola,

The issue with your slide numbering is something our team has looked into, as it seems that it appears only in Chrome's HTML5 output and when you enabled the menu to number entries automatically. They were able to narrow it down to this Chrome bug: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=822260

As far as your zoomed lightbox, I saw the same thing, so I went ahead and tested publishing it myself and uploading to my Amazon S3 server. You can view that version here.

I wasn't sure what version/update of  Storyline you were publishing with, but my version was Storyline 3 Update 4, and it all behaved normally on my end. Can you double check that link and let me know what you're seeing?

Hi,

So I'm back after the holidays and my problem lives on....

I have published this course. On IE no issues, on chrome all sorts of issues.

Using Chrome v67 and storyline 360 - fresh install.

This is an inherited program from another developer. I have attached the file just in case I'm missing something.

I just don't understand? I have been reading about various chrome issues but they seem to be with older versions of chrome. Just wondering if anyone else has come across this issue? And if so what can I do to fix it?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Nichola

Thanks Crystal.

You would notice straight away the issues as the pages do not display properly.

Example, I can see edges of boxes but no content,  or I would see the elements on the page out of placement and covering other elements.  It's almost like they lose their placement coordinates and some of the elements lose some properties?

Thanks for helping! I'm out of the office today but I can send an image tomorrow.

Hi Nichola,

I also took a look at your published course and navigating through a few slides I didn't see anything that looked particularly off or zoomed in wrong. As Alyssa mentioned, it'd help if you could point us to the slide number or title that's causing you an issue.

If you'd like, you can also take a look at a quick Peek recording I did showing what I saw. I turned off the audio recording, so you'll see my clicking around. :-)
