Overlap issue in triggers panel
May 20, 2019
Hi all
I've been having a recurring issue with the triggers panel since updating Storyline 360 to version 3.27.18822.0. It seems to be reducing the space given to each trigger to a single line, causing a mess of overlapping text.
This can be remedied by shutting and re-opening the slide or - sometimes, not always - by opening and closing the variables panel. However it's happening so frequently that these workarounds are time consuming.
One of my colleagues is having this issue, but I couldn't find an existing thread discussing this so I'm not sure how widespread it is. Is anybody else having this issue?

Hi Ronnie
I'm having the same issue. I updated to this version (Build 3.27.18822.0) over a week ago and everything was fine until today - I'm suspecting a Windows update has made a change to a setting
This is the latest Windows update and it may have something to do with this
Hi Wendy
Thanks for the reply! That certainly could be a possibility, my computer has updated a couple of times in the past few weeks.
On a possibly related note, are you by any chance also experiencing slowdown when you preview projects?
The issue you're reporting has been occurring since the March release of SL360. I've seen it as well and always attributed it to a screen refresh / memory issue. Another suggestion that I've seen in the forums is docking / undocking the triggers panel.
Others have reported that previewing projects in the recent update is slow, too. This was happening prior to the most recent updates in Windows. Thankfully all who have reported this problem are not seeing it in their published files. :)
Hi Ronnie,
I was able to replicate this as well and my workaround to bring back the normal looking triggers panel is to switch from Story View to Form View and switch back to Story View again.
However, I encourage you to raise a support case for this particular issue to bring this to the attention of the support engineers. Submit a support case here.

Hi Thor and Jopney
Thanks for your input. I've submitted a support case as recommended - fingers crossed for a quick fix!

Hey Ronnie,
Thanks so much for submitting a case. Our team is heads-down investigating a solution to this problem, and we'll let you know as soon as we sort this out.
Hi Ronnie
sorry I missed your post I've been travelling. No I haven't noticed any slowdown in preview.
Hi Ronnie,
I'm glad that Wendy reached back out. We are seeing a few reports of the preview being slow and/or choppy in the latest update.
I'll attach this conversation to the report as we track user impact and so that we can share any updates with you here.
If you need to revert to the previous update, check out the instructions here.
Just started experiencing this today, and I've found the quickest way to fix it for me (as a work-around - not a solution) is to collapse and expand the Triggers panel (double-click the arrow next to the docking icon for the panel). Lets me get right back to working. ;-)
Thanks for popping in to share the solution that worked for you, Adam. This is still an open issue with our team and this conversation is attached so we can share updates here.
Good, seems I'm not the only one with this issue!
Sorry to hear you've run into this too, Adam! Our team is still investigating, but in the meantime, you can try the workarounds mentioned above to undock/redock the trigger panel or change slides.
We'll keep you posted here as we have more info!
Just a quick note: I'm also having this issue, and my workaround is to simply grab the left side of the panel and resize it, even if only a few pixels-worth. Seems to work every time, and slightly quicker than un-docking/re-docking.
Great news, everyone!
Remember when text would overlap in the triggers panel? Well, that issue is now fixed in Update 3.30.19518.0 for Storyline 360!
