Own mask for "would you like to resume where you left off?"

May 16, 2013

Hey Heros!

is it possible to build in a own welcome slide for a content that is comming up whenever a user restarts the e-learning content with the question "whould you like to resume where you left off?" and some additional stuff?

More concrete:

is it possible to build in a java script to read out where the user left off last time and bring him to this position with a trigger (by click) - after the user allready landed on some kind of a welcome-slide?

Thank you for your great help.

Hey Boris!

As far as supported customizations go, if you've enabled a resume prompt and you want to customize what it says, that's easy to change. The text comes from your player's Text Labels, which you can customize from the Player Properties window. If you need help editing the text labels, check out this tutorial.

Hope that helps

Thank you very much, Peter!

This helpes me a lot. But this is only one part of the solution I have in mind.

Can you please tell me what happens to score and status of the user by the decision to restart the content without resuming where he left off by default settings?

If nothing happens and the score and status of last try are still in cache - this is the complete solution to what I have in mind.

Hi Boris,

I believe it would depend on your specific LMS. When choosing your Resume behavior in your course, if you choose Always or Prompt, do one of the following:

  • If your LMS supports bookmarking, mark the box labeled When running in LMS, ignore Flash cookie. The LMS will control resume behavior in this scenario.
  • If your LMS does not support bookmarking, uncheck When running in LMS, ignore Flash cookie. The Flash cookie will control resume behavior in this scenario.

You might also want to try testing your course in SCORM Cloud to help determine how the resume will behave.

Which LMS are you using, out of curiosity? Perhaps another member with experience can jump in if they have the same LMS...
