Page numbers by slide number only

I have a lesson that I am working on that I would like to have the page numbers show in the Menu as:

1. Introduction

instead of 

1.1 Introduction 

I have manually added the numbers to the page name which shows the page numbers, but it also shows the title with the "hide/show" arrow.  My business partners do not like it displayed this way, and would like it to look more like the Presenter menu. 

My second attempt was to go into the Menu settings and push all of the items over with the left arrow and then re-numerate. This has the right look, but then creates page 1 as the title instead of page 1. Which throws each page off by one. 

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
