Parameters of yours computers

Jul 15, 2016

Hello

I have a problem with  saving a storyline file (78 MB).  What's more I've noticed difficulties with moving any object (markers, pictures etc.) in my file.

My PC meets Storyline requirements. Have you similar problems with yours files?

Could you post here yours more information about yours PC (RAM, CPU, eventually Graphics Card)?

Thanks for help.

Hi Grzegorz!

Are you only having difficulty with one file? Are you getting an error of some sort?

If you are only having difficulty with one file, you may want to consider importing into a new file to see if this alleviates the issue, but if the issue is across files then I would recommend a repair of your software as detailed here.

Hi Grgzegorz,

Did you also confirm that you're following along with the guidelines here to prevent odd behavior in your Storyline files? What update and version of Storyline are you using? The latest is Storyline 2 Update 9.  Are you seeing general slowness in all your files or just this one? You could look at importing it into a new file as described here and if you're seeing it in every file I'd also advise a repair of Storyline.

I tried import slides into a new file, but unfortunately it didn’t help and Storyline is still not responded and errors “not reply” appears.

Now  I'll try repair of Storyline.

Edit.

A moment ago I've installed the program again according to the Ashley instructions and problem still exist.

Could you share parameters of computers you use for work with Storyline? And what operating system you use? Windows or OS?

Here is information about computer which I'm using. What do you think about those parameters?

Hi Grzegorz!

The minimum system requirements for Articulate Storyline 2 are listed here.

File corruption is unpredictable, and there's no straightforward way to determine what causes it. Common causes are environmental (disk errors, power outages, improper shutdowns), viruses, failed Windows updates, and even file size (i.e., very large files have a higher risk of corrupting).

Consider these preventative measures to protect your project files:

1) Save and publish projects on your local hard drive. Working on a network drive or external USB drive can cause erratic behavior due to latency.

2) Save incrementally. If your app has an AutoRecovery feature, take advantage of it. If not, save a new version of your project every hour or so with a new file name each time. If a file becomes corrupt, you'll still have a working version available.

3) Install Dropbox. Snapshots of changes in your local Dropbox folder are kept for 30 days. If a file is damaged or deleted, you can restore a previous snapshot: https://www.dropbox.com/help/11/en.

4) Don't leave the app open and unattended for long periods of time. Some users have reported file corruption after leaving their apps open overnight. It's possible that a malware scan or disk backup could run because the machine is idle, making your app vulnerable to crashing.

The IT department checks the computer in terms of hardware failures or software bugs or viruses. I have a problem not only with saving but mainly with the normal functioning of the program (insert picture, moving markers, etc.)

I know minimum system requirements for Articulate Storyline 2 and my computer meets these requirements, but the program still continues to jam.

  1. From the beginning I have all the records and publish on a local drive.
  2. Yes, I use the function AutoRecovery and I tried to save the file every hour.
  3. I didn’t leave a running program for a long period of time.
