Pass a training if you complete any one of multiple quizzes

Nov 16, 2017

Greetings!

I'm developing a new hire training for my company and am wanting to tailor content to specific positions. Some content will be the same across all departments, but some positions need to be customized (sanitation is quite different than warehouse). I'm thinking it would be easiest to have one training with one of the first slides asking trainees to select all the departments they work in. Their answers would determine which slides they see.

That all seems simple enough. The part I can't figure out is how would I reflect that in quizzing? Each department would have a different quiz (or at least, some custom questions). Is there a way I can set Storyline so that it doesn't matter which quiz a person passes, so long as they pass a quiz, they will complete the training? For example, if someone in sanitation passes the sanitation quiz, they will show as having completed the training, even though they didn't touch the warehouse quiz.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks,

Benjamin

Hi Benjamin,

When you're having multiple quizzes in a course, and you want each tracked by it's own results slide, we can only report one results to an LMS.

You'll have to choose how the results should be calculated:

User must pass each quiz

Select this option if learners must pass each individual quiz (represented by each result slide) in order to pass the overall course.

If learners fail any quiz in the course, then they fail the entire course.

Combine points from each quiz

Select this option if you want the scores from all tracked result slides to be added together as the final score for the course, then enter a percentage in the Passing Score field.

In this scenario, a learner could fail one or more of the individual quizzes and still pass the overall course.

If you choose the latter option, you could set the passing score to reflect the user passing one quiz - so say there are 4 quizzes, and if a user passed one that would be a score of 25%. If you set that as you passing score - then the user would be considered completed and passed. You can remove the score from appearing on the results slide - and you'll want to check with your LMS if they'll display it anywhere.

Thanks Ashley! I may use the latter option. Now, is there a way I could make it so that if a person doesn't pass a quiz, rather than seeing a results slide and having the option of ending the training, they are automatically routed back to the questions they answered incorrectly, and must answer them again? In other words, I want to make it so the only way they can end the training is pass the training.
