Is there a way to include a pause button in a Storyline course, but disable the ability to move forward on a slide by clicking inside the thermometer? In other words, I want learners to be able to pause any slide, but not skip over material.
You'd need to hide the seekbar and include a play / pause button within the slide or slide master. There isn't a specific trigger to toggle the play state. However, the layer property "pause base layer" can be handily leveraged. There are a few examples around, mine are listed here:
Thanks, I kind of figured the solution would look something like that, but it's always good to see if there's another way. I've put in a feature request with Articulate, and it looks like several other people have as well. Luckily, my next scheduled project isn't a compliance course.
For those that stumble across this page, this thread is exploring the same issue in greater depth.
I have been reading from all the post regarding this matter and I am truly hoping you can help.
I need a pause/play button that pauses the timeline. I cannot show the seekbar because it is for a compliance course.
Every slide I have is a different audio file. A master slide solution discussed above requires that I select a single file to pause/play trigger under Action: Pause Media Media: Sound from file.
The only solution I have been able to figure out is to add a button to every single slide. I need a faster way of doing this since it was an automatic part of Presenter and I have more than 100 slides per course which would take forever to add a button to each individual slide. Can you help? I would truly appreciate it.
How are you inserting your audio? If you add the audio to the base timeline, it'll synchronize with the base timeline's playhead. Pausing the base timeline using the method described from the master slide will then pause progression of the base and the audio that's attached to it.
I am attempting to create my first Articulation but having read the above I am having trouble setting up a pause option. I have put a button on each slide - I think the audio is added to the base timeline but after that I am confused : (
Hi Debbie and welcome to E-Learning Heroes! This thread is a bit dated, but if you could share your .story project file for us to take a look, that may be helpful.
I couldn't work out how to pause my bullet points and audio at the same time - only just taking the course - however by going onto Articulate Heroes I eventually got the answer, which seems simple once you know, pause the timeline and audio separately with a trigger and do the same for play media and resume timeline triggers.

Hi Steve,
Thank you, I finally figured out how to create a button and use a new frame with the pause setting. Save me a ton of time.

Very useful to have the heroes option.
Kind regards
