Pausing then restartging Media

Sep 17, 2013

I have a trigger which pauses media when a button is clicked.  It's set to pause the timeline starts.  However, I want the media to pick up where it left off once the timeline ends.  The only option I see is to "start" media when timeline ends.  When I do this, the media starts over from the beginning.  If I don't set a restart option, then the media remains in pause even once the timeline has ended for the element attached to the trigger.  How can I restart the media once the timeline has passed for that element?

Hi Karri,

I'm not sure how you have this set up, but I made a very simple example for you here. I set up some audio to play when the timeline starts (just a recording of me testing) and then set an object off screen that when the object appears in the timeline to pause the audio, and when it disappears to play the audio again. It worked as expected. Could you share your .story file (or even just that one slide) here with us so that we could get a better sense of what you have set up?

Hi Karri,

I don't know why I assume it was audio - but in case you're working with a video, there is another great example from Mike Enders in this thread specific to pausing the video using an off slide object. It uses an additional hotspot trigger to play the video after pause, but you could add the same type of trigger as I mentioned above to when the rectangle's timeline ended.
