Pausing Timeline on Secondary (Not Base) Layer

Oct 05, 2014

Is there a way to pause the timeline on a secondary layer? To be clear, I am not looking to pause the timeline of the base layer.

Hi Emily,

Thank you so much for your helpful response! I neglected to include a crucial piece of information in my original post which complicates things a bit. Per my client's request, I am not using the pre-built navigation buttons and I have disabled the seekbar. Instead, I am using custom-built Pause/Play buttons with the appropriate triggers for the audio.

The base layer includes five buttons with questions. When the learner clicks a button, the layer showing the question and answer (with corresponding audio) is displayed. Here is the setup:

My challenge is that when I pause the audio on the slide, the timeline keeps moving and the learner is directed back to the base layer without having heard all of the audio. Is there another way to pause the timeline without enabling the seekbar?

Thanks again. I really do appreciate your assistance!

There is a way to pause the timeline of the layer, if you trigger a light box of another slide (keep it blank except with for the word pause on it) you will successfully pause the timeline of the layer as well as any video/audio that is playing. The challenge now shifts to starting the layer moving again from where you left it. Not to add any confusion to this but I've tried a hundred ways to Sunday to try & solve this and to no simple avail. The only solution seems to be to restart the layer. Remember when you light box it is a fully functional slide that is launched inside of a window . By adding a button triggered to go back to the base slide ( jump to) the layer will restart from where you left it- only issue is that you are watching it through the light box.

I've included a quick example with a short video and number count down to illustrate the timeline.

Once you are on the layer, hit the lightbox button to see the pause effect. First time thru try closing the lightbox and note where it leads.Feel free to play with it and perhaps there is an easy way to return to the layer once it is paused. If you solve it do let me know.

Cheers
