Pausing video in Articulate

Apr 11, 2013

Hey,

I want my video to pause at a specific point. I don't want to add a pause button, I just want it to pause when it reaches a certain time. And once it's paused I want a resume button to pop up.

Thanks.

Hi Darragh,

I think this will work - at least it did for me in a quick test.

  • Place a shape offstage  and position it on the timeline at the "time" where you want the video to pause.
  • Add a trigger to the shape to pause the video when the timeline starts FOR THE SHAPE
  • Insert a button - call it resume - onto the slide and set it's initial state to hidden
  • Add a trigger to play the video when the user clicks the button
  • Add a trigger to change the shape of the the button to normal when the timeline starts FOR THE SHAPE (same shape as above)

My trigger order, top to bottom, is:

Play media trigger (Button)

Pause media trigger (shape)

Change state trigger (shape
