PDF viewer for password protected documents

Mar 02, 2016

I've been able to get a basic PDF embedded on a page with the PDF on my personal website.

What I am trying to accomplish is to link to documents behind our customer-facing firewall.  Each customer has a unique set of credentials for access.

I simply get a page like this , if published to CD: CD error

If I publish to LMS and load to Scorm Cloud, I get this:LMS error

If I click OK, it opens the PDF in a seperate instance of Adobe Viewer.

Neither option ideal.

Not sure how to overcome this ...Input appreciated.

Hi Travis,

The CD option sounds like you're not able to access it based on the firewall set up - so you may want to look at linking to the PDF directly as a file and then publishing for CD.

As for the LMS option, if it's prompting the user to download it that also sounds as expected, and it's really dependent on the browser and how it'll determine to open files (either within another window/tab or by downloading it).

Hi Travis,

I can't offer the specific browser settings to recommend - and it would be different depending on the browser each individual is using, so you'd need to instruct your users to do so, which may be a bit more involved than you want them to do. As for changes in the PDF itself, I haven't heard of that either - but hopefully someone in the community can weigh in on what they've done with a similar situation.
