Strange question I know:

The background:  I have created a story that has 4 quizzes within it for our drivers that are out in the field.  They must take a pass a training exam on a regular basis and submit the results to the office. The driver has limited access to computers and are constantly on the road so the exams are currently mailed to them... (yes, snail mail) along with an acknowledgment of completion.  The signed copy is returned via snail mail and then scanned into some software somewhere for future reference.  The drivers do not have access to a printer and this document MUST be signed and scanned.  It's not just a pass/fail from the LMS.

The dilemma:  I have created a fillable .pdf that can be signed and upon submit it is sent to the email of the person who scans it in (it works with not problem).  Can the resource tab where I am housing the pdf be hidden until all exams are complete?  Or is there a way to embed the pdf in a slide at the end of the document somewhere so the user can view, sign and submit it?

Hey Lynee,

It sounds like this new fillable PDF process is going to save your team lots of time and headaches! What a positive step forward from using snail mail. ✉️

You asked if there's a way to hide the resources tab until the learner completes all exams, or if there's a way to embed the PDF on the last slide of the course. You can do both, so choose the method you like better!

  1. Hide the resources tab: Open Player Properties, and disable the Resource tab. Then, open Slide Properties on the last slide of the course, and enable the Resource tab.
  2. Embed the PDF on the last slide: Go to the Insert tab, and select Web Object. From there, add the link to the fillable PDF, and it will be embedded on the slide. And since you can't preview web objects, you'll want to publish the course to see the PDF in action.

Give those options a try, and let me know if one of them works for you!

Hi Alyssa,

I have a challenge I'm working with similar to the one in this thread for which you provided help. I'm looking to provide users a fillable pdf they can open and fill out parts of periodically/on several slides, save or print before they exit, then have the fillable pdf upon exit/when the course is next used clear all user-entered data (so next users can start with a clean version of the pdf). Is this do-able?

Please let me know if you get a chance/very much appreciated,

Bill

Hi Bill,

Happy to help! Since a web object will automatically load when you click on the slide, attempting to periodically fill parts over several slides won't work as the web object will refresh when you try to click on it in a different slide.

When you insert the web object, you may want to try displaying it in a new browser window so that it can stay up as the user is going through the course!
