Peek screen recording not playing when Storyline published as video

Mar 21, 2018

I often use Peek for screen recordings, then insert the mp4 in Storyline to add some text, etc. When publishing my story file to 360 Review or as SCORM for LMS, the playback works fine.

However, when publishing the story file as a video, the Peek mp4 plays audio only and does not display the video.

If I add a stock video mp4 to Storyline and publish as video, it plays back normally. The freezing issue seems to only happen with video files from Peek when publishing as video from Storyline.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Any advice?

Hi all,

Great news!  We just released another update for Articulate 360, and included a few important fixes and new features, you'll find a synopsis of those in the release notes here.

The item you'll be interested in is how we fixed an issue where video output is just a static image when you publish for video a slide with Peek screencast

Just launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for each application. Details here.

Please let us know if you have any questions, either here or by reaching out to our Support Engineers directly.

Hi Robert,

Sorry to hear that you're having difficulty with your Peek video not playing in your output. The solution shared above was specific for publishing to video, but it sounds like you are experiencing something a bit different.

I tested an example that I had on hand and it seems to be working as expected. Does the link here work well for you?

Would you be able to share the Peek mp4 for us to take a look?

Hi Robert,

Thanks for the additional details.

Did you experience the same issue when taking a look at the file I linked above? I uploaded to the web after you mentioned it above.

I have the file that you can take a look at locally as well. It's attached here.

Are you on the latest update of Storyline 360? We are now on Update 17.
