I have three headshots of staff, when I click on one I want the other two to dim. I can do that well enough, but for some reason if i click on the picture a second time it jumps to a visited state that I set up earler while playing around.
I have deleted all the triggers, or so i thought, but when I click on the pictures it still jumps to the visited state.
If you have a visited state on an object, the object will be marked as visited as soon as you click it. You don't need a special trigger for this. If you don't want this behaviour then edit the states on the object and either delete the visited state or make it look exactly like the normal state so that the object does not look any different when visited.
I have nine pictograms on a single slide. Each one has an associated layer from which to gain additional information. What is the optimal way for each of these pictures to be disabled once the learner clicks on each one?

Mind posting the story or a screenr of the behavior and setup of the offending object so we can have a look? This behavior may be by design.

Okay so let me see if I'm clear.
I have four pictures
I set objects b,c,d to dim when object a is clicked - A is automatically marked as visited
When I click on object b, - a, c, and d have a trigger to change the state to dimmed. Will a remain marked as visited ?
Visited is a special state, although you can change the state after the visited state has been shown. The object will always be marked as visited.
This is important if you are using the visited state as a condition.
in your example the buttons will show as dimmed but they will also be marked as visited

Create a Disabled state for each pic and add a trigger that changes the state of a pic to Disabled when user clicks on the pic.
Thank you Michael.
Similarly, if I want to mark as "visited", would I simply add a trigger to each picture with the following parameters:
Action: Change State of
On Object: Picture 1
To State: Visited
When: User Clicks
Object: Hotspot 7
Hi Rob
no - SL automatically changes the state to Visited when clicked (VIsited is a built in state) - Michael's suggestion would work better.
So, the parameters would be:
Action: Change State of
On Object: Picture 1
To State: Disabled
When: User Clicks
Object: Hotspot 7
You will be a lot happier without the hotspot. Delete it and use this trigger:
Change state of
Picture 1
Disabled
User clicks
Picture 1
Don't I need the hotspot to get to the deeper details underlying each pic?
Nope, you should add the trigger to the picture. So change state of picture to disabled when the user clicks picture.
