Pick and Choose from Multiple Results Slides

Sep 01, 2015

I have a Storyline file with 5 different topics, each with its own assessment. Users may review anywhere from 1 topic to all 5 topics, depending on their role. I have 5 separate assessments and results slides already created. Is there a way I can calculate the users' overall results based only on the topics they reviewed? (I don't want their score to be zero for a topic they didn't review/take an assessment for.)

Would also be open to making a centralized assessment if there was a way to tell Storyline (via variable maybe?) which assessment questions to display based on the sections they reviewed.

Are either of these 2 things possible??

Thanks!

Hi Brande,

There isn't an option to pick and choose which results slides to report - although you can add a master results slide to track them all and you'll have two options in regards to how the score is calculated:

  • User must pass each quiz: Select this option if learners must pass each individual quiz (represented by the tracked result slides) in order to pass the overall course (represented by the final result slide). If learners fail any quiz in the course, then they fail the entire course.
  • Combine points from each quiz: Select this option if you want the scores from all tracked result slides to be added together as the final score for the course, then enter a percentage in the Passing Score field. In this scenario, a learner could fail one or more of the individual quizzes and still pass the overall course.

If you choose "combine points" you could set the passing score to account for only answering a certain number of topics and report that score to the LMS - but depending on what the learner will see it may be disconcerting to see that they passed with 20% out of 100 for example.

You may also want to review a thread such as this one where users discuss a variable set up based on the language selection of a user at the beginning.
