Pick Many issue
May 08, 2013
Is there any way in a Pick Many slide to allow for a user to deselect a choice? I have a slide with four images, and three of the options are correct. When the user selects one, the image is highlighted. If the user clicks on the wrong answer, it remains selected even though the highlight has disappeared.
Am I stuck changing to a Multiple Answer quiz or is there a solution here?

Hi Arend,
Sounds like you're using a free form "Pick Many", with multiple attempts. Is that right?
If so, you could apply a trigger on the "Try Again" layer's "Try Again" button to reset the states of the objects.
Here's an example of how you could trigger this for one of the objects:
You can apply that to the one incorrect object, or all of the objects, if you'd like.
Would that work for you?
That wouldn't work, because I'd like to find a way for them to be able to deselect before they click the Submit button. For example, they click on the wrong one and decide they want to change their answer before submitting. Right now, it will remain selected.
Hi Arend,
Ahh, so you want them to be able to select it, but change their minds before they submit it. Correct?
I'm afraid I don't see the same behavior when I build a new free form Pick Many question.
For example, I have four objects on my question slide. Two of them are correct and two are incorrect. If I select two correct responses and then an incorrect response, but change my mind and click the incorrect again, it deselects the response.
If I have all three selected again, click "Submit", then click the incorrect object again, it deselects the object as well. Submitting again results in a correct answer response.
Have a look:

Is it possible you're using a different type of question? Or have you added any triggers to the objects?
Any chance you can share the .STORY file here? I'd be happy to take a look.
Thanks!
I think I'll compromise and turn the interaction into a drag and drop.
