It's hard to tell without having more information.
When you go to Edit your Pick Many interaction (top left of the right panel), do you see something like this window?
You should be able to click where it says "Click to enter a choice" to add more objects from your slide to the interaction.
The check boxes on the left let you tell the program which answers are correct.
If you manually made the objects in question part of a Button Set, then that would prevent you from selecting more than one object at a time. You want to make sure they are NOT part of a set:
Radio buttons are automatically made part of a set, but otherwise you would have to manually apply that to your objects.
In addition to what Belen said, just a note that if you start out with a Pick One and convert it to a Pick Many the buttons remain as part of a Button set.
To fix this, select all the objects, right-click, select button set, and change the option to "none".

Does any of this help?
Hi Jennifer and Belen,
In addition to what Belen said, just a note that if you start out with a Pick One and convert it to a Pick Many the buttons remain as part of a Button set.
To fix this, select all the objects, right-click, select button set, and change the option to "none".
Thanks for the responses. It was indeed a case of "who's got the button" set!
Thanks Jennifer for the update and glad Rebecca and Belen were able to assist you here!
