Pictures vanish from Feedback Master !

Aug 05, 2014

Hello,

Here's a weird new behaviour : pictures dissapear from Feedback Master

You still can see the background picture in thumbnail view but it won't appear on Quiz slides as well :

If you play with the eye icon, it will disappear from thumbnail as well.

The only way I found to solve this is to "ChangePicture"...for the same one !

One thing I noticed is the timeline bar for the picture, which reads "Picture 1" here, is named after the filename of the picture (like "feedback_OK.png") after it's been reloaded.

Could this be a problem with a "link" to the source picture (it may have been moved since I created the Feedback) ?

Hi Pierre,

I've seen this before, except the images are disappearing from the actual slides, not the master. What happens when you apply that master slide - is the image still gone?

You mentioned moving the image, and that could definitely be connected to the issue. The other times I've seen it, it's also associated with not following along with these guidelines for working on your Storyline files. Also, I can't remember from other threads I've seen you in recently, but you'll want to make sure you're using Update 6 of Storyline.

If you're able to replicate it again on a new file, while working on your local drive please let us know what steps you took.

Hi Ashley,

Yes, picture is also gone from actual slides.

Picture were imported from a network folder and there's a good chance they have been moved afterwards (sorted) BUT as there's no library and "update picture" action in Storyline, pictures should be imported locally with no link to original file, right ?

Still, you can see on the screenshot that the actual filename has disappeared "Picture 1 | Picture 1" whereas in Feedback Master slides where background is still visible you can read "Picture 1 | background.png".

I do follow the guidelines (except for pictures I import, but I can't have ALL files locally !), I updated to version 6 (I wonder if there's a link with the problem, BTW).

And yes I posted many messages those last days... I should apply for beta testing

I tried to reproduce the problem by importing and moving picture but that doesn't work. I can only provide the file where you can see the weird behaviour.

Edit : I made a small test. I exported my file as a Theme, unzipped it, checked Assets folder and could find every image except the ones that were gone from masters.

Hi Pierre,

This issue is something that we've shared with our QA team, but since it's hard to replicate they haven't been able to narrow down a specific issue that could be causing it. If you'd like to share the file with us, I can add that to the existing QA report and see if I can recreate the behavior to help them narrow down what may be happening.

As you mentioned the files should be pulled into the project itself, but it's worth seeing if there is a difference between when you import from your network drive or your local drive. Also, are you importing the images or using a copy/paste functionality? I'd always recommend to use the import, as copy/paste has some odd behaviors with Storyline at times.

Also, were you able to check that you're using update 6? You can go to the Help tab and click on About Articulate Storyline to see which update you're using.

Hi Pierre,

I see that you were talking with Miker regarding this issue (thanks for the case number). I know you mentioned that you were working locally and following along with those guidelines which are a helpful way to prevent corruption, but unfortunately there is not a way to determine the exact cause and it could have been something else within that file, your system, etc. I see that you were able to reimport the photos into a new version of the Storyline project, so I'd suggest creating a back up copy of that saved locally so that you would always have that to revert to.

Feel free to let Miker or I know if you have any additional questions.
