I just purchased StoryLine and running under update 5. The lorem placeholder shown in Tom's tutorial is not working as he shows or as described in this thread. Has this been disabled?
I was typing without the quotation marks ... I closed StoryLine completely, rebooted my computer, and now it is working. Sorry for all the confusion. Must have been just a glitch.

Kay,
Do you press enter after you add it? I just tried it and it works for me, but I did discover that I have to press the enter key.

I have learnt something today
Thank you Mike
I pressed Return. It works when I press Enter.
You speedy help is very much appreciated.
Kay
You could also write a number between the parenthesis to choose the number of sentences you will have.
Example: =lorem(6) + enter will give you 6 sentences.
Enjoy !

Hi Joe,
It seems to be working on this end. the proper syntax should be =lorem(#,#)
Note that there is no space between the m in lorem and the first parentheses.

In a new, blank text box, I am typing "=lorem()" followed by the enter key ... nothing happens.
Are you typing it with or without the quotation marks? You'll want to type it exactly as
=lorem()
If you place a number within the parenthesis you can determine how many paragraphs it'll be. Also, make sure there are no spaces or other characters.

Thanks for the update Joe!
