Play button on Timeline works only for graphics, not audio

Dec 03, 2018

I've only tried to add audio to Storyline a few times.  The first time, using the Play button to synch text and audio was...quirky.  The audio always started from the beginning, even if I started playing in the middle of the timeline.

Now I'm editing a course someone else built, and clicking Play doesn't play the audio at all, even though it plays just fine in preview mode.  This makes timing the graphics...a bit tricky.

Help?

Hi Mary, sorry the timeline is giving you trouble!

Are you on the latest update of Storyline 360? To check, click the Help tab, then click About Storyline. You should see 3.22.17236.0 in the bottom-right corner.

If you're already on the latest update and you're still getting stuck, would you mind sharing a few sample slides with our team here?

So I figured out that the "Play audio when timeline starts" trigger - totally unnecessary, incidentally - was preventing the audio from playing in the scrub bar.

This was an externally-created training, and from all the weird %$@#%$@# they did with it, one would think it was made by either highly educated monkeys, or people who had never learned to use Storyline the way the programmers intended.

Audio no longer seems to restart each time I click play, as it did some months ago on a project I created.  Good advice to make sure I'd updated the install.  Thanks!
