I inserted a Video on a Slide (working with Storyline 2) and it starts, when I enter the slide. I do not want the Video to be played again, when I reenter the slide. Where can I define this?
A couple of ways to handle this, Martin. One way is to add your video to a layer and only show that layer the first time the slide has been visited. You can do this with a variable.
if Xvisited=false show the video layer. When the video layer shows, change the variable to true. Provided you set the slide to reset (not resume) when visited, the video layer will only show once.
The other option is to set your slide to resume and overlay the video with what you'd like them to see when they visit again.
Unfortunately the last days nothing works at all. When opening a my *.story file I only get the message, that may file is invalid or damaged and it might be created in a recent version of Storyline. It is now the third time, that my work of several hours is being destroyed and this time my backup file is concerned as well.
Any idea to calm me down?
Sorry to hear you are having issues with your file. You may want to try importing the file into a new file and see if this works. If you still cannot open this, you may want to try importing the slides one by one then combining them together. This may help to weed out if there was only one slide that may have become corrupted.
well I tried to import the file, but then it says, that I do not have the right do so or the the file might be usewd by another process. Do not know, what to think about all that.
How can I import single slides? I am not being asked, if or which slides I want to import. And when I choose the invalid story-file I only get the message displayed, that ... (see above). I can tell you, this hurts. And actually, I should hurry up working on this learning module.
Cheers,
Martin.
P.S. I send a cry for help to Atriculate support, attaching the damaged file, but have not yet revceived any reaction
When you create a new file, then use the File dropdown and select Import - Storyline, you should get a page that states "Insert Slides" and you can select which slides to import.
Also, I do not see a support case under your name. Do you have a case number so I can follow along?
I did not receive any confirmation on my support request.
When I try to import the file, the mentioned page, stating "insert slides" pops up, but does not display the slides to me:

Maybe I can send the damaged Story-file to you and you can see, if something can be reconstructed?
It is possible the submission did not go through. You can try again here, or you can attach the file here in the thread, or even a slide or two from the file.
When will I receive the case number? I would expect to get a receipt immediately after send a support request, containing of a case nummer and maybe some nice words;-) But I have not yet received anything, looking like this ...
Nope, I received nothing like this. Neither now, nor earlier in the morning, when I sent my first support request. You cannot find any request under my name again?
Similar to the original post on this thread - I have a video I want to play once from the Main Menu but I am calling the (youtube) video via a lightbox slide instead of the proposed solution above -that uses a variable to show a layer.
From the Main Menu a welcome video is called called via a lightbox, if variable welcomevid = True
From welcome video slide I close the lightbox when timeline ends and set variable welcomevid=false
The Main Menu slide is reset upon revisit
Yet the welcome video plays every time the Main Menu is accessed
Anita, I did a quick test and it works for me, see here. By any chance, are you using the `When variable changes`condition in the trigger that displays the lightbox? If yes, then this is probably the issue, as the variable is not changed on the menu slide but on the lightboxed slide. The `When variable changes`condition is limited to the slide where the change actually happens.
Thanks so much for your quick response. I found the solution.
First I checked Michael's suggestion and confirmed I was not using the `When variable changes`condition in the trigger that calls the lightbox within the Main Menu slide. I was using the 'when timeline ends'.
I then looked at the lightbox slide and changed the trigger for setting the variable to False when the timeline starts and this worked. I suspect the trigger was not getting set to False as I was closing the lightbox before the trigger to set the variable (?).
Thanks again! Love the fact that I can post an issue during working hours in Australia and have a couple of solution suggestions the next day.

Hi Steve,
wow, that was impressingly fast. Hero-like, I suppose;-) Thanks a lot, I will try this.

Hi Martin!
Hopefully Steves idea will work for you. Let us know if you need anything further!

Hi Emily,
I tried again via your support page, as the file is too large. To send it via eMail.
Thanks for your support,
Martin.
Thanks for the update, if you could post the case number here when you receive it, and I will follow along.

You should receive an automated email right after you submit the case. It would be from support@articulate.com

Hello Martin,
I did just search and I do not see any new requests under your name. you can try to upload it here.
Did it. Browser says (as the two times before): upload received
O, and here ist my case number: # 00451582

Hello Anita,
Can you share the file so we can take a look at the set up directly?
