Check the version of Storyline 3 you have installed. The latest Build is 3.11.23355.0. HTML5-only functionality was added in one of the later builds. You may just need to download and install the latest version to correct the error you are seeiung.
Thanks for the advice, Steve. But, I would have to ensure that this will fix the problem as I work in a large corporate setting and don't have the flexibility of administering my own machine/applications. I have version 3.7.20003.0, so having an earlier version might be the problem.
I think I am having the same issue, so I will ask my IT Department to make sure I have the right version. However, one of our employees was trying to take a course this morning and that same icon popped up. Is this also a flash issue? Myself and others have taken the course with no issues.
Let us know if getting on the latest version of Storyline 3 fixes the issue for you! Regarding the published course for your employee, if you do not see any issues, it may be that you have Flash installed, and they don't, and the course is still dependent on Flash to operate.
Updating to the latest version and republishing your course to HTML5-only will help confirm this. If your course still fails to run, share it with our support team, and they can take a closer look!
The latest version fixed the preview player issue (as well as a timeline play button issue I was having!). Also, I didn't realize I was publishing in the format "Flash with HTML5 fallback and AMP" instead of HTML5-only. For some reason this only caused issues with one of my courses (and only in IE) but I'm glad to know how to fix that :) Thank you!

I am also having the same problem. My company owned computer has removed Flash, and now the preview no longer works.

Looks like Build 3.8.20838.0 (December 3, 2019) is the build that made Storyline 3 Flash-free.

Awesome! I can't thank you enough. This is exactly what I will need to get this upgraded by my IT dept.
