Player Won't Update to Reflect Changes

Feb 21, 2013

Hi,

I customized a players for my modules; however, I want to change some of the details. In the Player menu I have removed a tab and changed the logo so it looks like this:

However, when I press okay, go back to save the project, and then publish, I only see part of the changes (i.e. the logo changed but the tab of resource links is still there):

I have tried saving the new one repeatedly and also exporting the updated player then importing again, but I can't get it to recognize all of the changes.

What else can I do?

Thanks,

Victoria

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Victoria!

It sounds like this isn't updating properly after you've published the course, correct? How are you viewing the content? Are you viewing it locally, or after uploading it to a web server or LMS?

If you haven't already, you may want to try clearing your browser cache, or try viewing the course in a different web browser.

Let me know if you're able to see a difference.

Thanks!

Hmm. Very odd, indeed.

Are you publishing content from files that are local? Or are the files on any external sources? It sounds a bit odd that it's just now starting to reflect the changes in the file, but not pushing it out to the published version.

If you're not working with the files on your local drive already, can you try moving them over and see if that makes a difference?

1.  Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.

2. You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).

3.  Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa365247(VS.85).aspx

If you are working locally, it sounds like it may be something to do with the installation. But before I jump to that conclusion, are you able to share one of the files with us, so we can see what's going on with this?

You'll be able to attach the .STORY file on the second page of the following form:

Good morning Victoria. I hope you had a great weekend!

I just wanted to take a moment to check in with you on this. I did take a look at the case this morning (#00320549 for my reference) and I see that Cleo was working with you. Looks like he sent a message out on the 22nd that may help resolve the problem for you. Did you receive his message? If not, you may want to check your spam folders and/or filters. If you're still unable to find his message, just let me know. I'll see if I can send it out to you again.

Thanks!

Hi Christine,

Thanks for checking up on the issue - you guys are AWESOME with support issues! I did get a response from Cleo, and his solution fixed the problem.

For the benefit of anyone with a similar issue, my problem was that I had resources checked in the right side customization choices for some of my slides. The custom settings on the right override the player settings.

Thanks again for your help,

Victoria
