Playing a recording slide
Oct 25, 2012
Hi,
I want to record a piece of eLearning (with no menu) consisting of only recording slides. I would like the Next button on the page to be configured to play the recording and then when the recording has finished move to the next slide. So, when a piece starts up the user can read the information on screen, click Next, play the recording, recording finishes playing and automatically moves to the next slide, user reads info, clicks Next, recording plays etc etc.
Is this possible to do in Articulate storyline?
Thanks
Jodie

Hi!
Yes it can. I can thing of two basic ways.
The first way is with variables and conditions. You set a variable to indicate if the next button has been clicked the first time to play the video. Make it a true-false variable.
Then add three triggers to the next button.
1. The first trigger plays the video when the next button is clicked and does this with a condition: if your variable is false.
2. The second trigger on the next button turns your variable to true.
3. The third trigger on the next button moves to the next slide with the condition to do this when your variable is true.
Then add a slide trigger to move to the next slide when the timeline ends.
The other way may be simpler for some folks and it is by using two slides that act s one. You essentially make a copy of the first slide and place it after. The second slide has the video playing immediately. Then add a trigger to that slide to move to the next slide when the timeline ends.
Thank you for your reply.
So the project does not end up huge I think the first way would be the best solution for me. If you have time, would you be able to let me know how I would create this true-false variable and set a trigger?
Thank you in advance.
