Playing With Variables

Hi everyone,
This is my first post here and I have to say, this is a great community and resource. I have been playing with variables this weekend (I know I need to get out more) but I have come up with a timed question that also has the learners score.
I have attached the .story file so please take a look and tell me what you think. If it is something you can use, please do. If you are a variable guru and can give me any hints on how to more elegantly use the variables and triggers that would be great too.
Thanks in advance.

Good idea! Thank you for example.
See attached a version that reduces the number of triggers you need. Hope I didn't break anything :-)
Hi Michael. I never would have thought of that in a thousand years but when you look at how it is set up, it makes sense. It sure cleans the page up going from 20 triggers to three. Thanks.
I often use offstage looping animations for counters, etc. It does save a bunch of triggers. See some info in a blog post here: http://wp.me/p2BoUf-cH
Thanks, I'll check that out.
Glad to see you got some assistance here Andrew,
