I'm very new to Storyline, version 1. I would like to create an interaction where the learner has to choose a route between point A and point B on a map, and a line will identify and progress with each of the "road or turn" choices that are made. Does anyone know how to do this?

Can you share a sample of your map, so that we can see how complex the 'route' would be?
I haven’t created anything yet, but it would be a rather simple route, with perhaps 4-5 turns to make/choose.
You could use states that you can click to build your route. Here is a crude example of what this may look like: http://dev.keypointlearn.com/xcl73_SL2/Map/V1/story.html
