pop over text

Aug 24, 2016

Hello,

I am new to Storyline 2 and have an image that I would like the  text definition to pop over when the image is scrolled over.

Can someone help me with these basics?

You can use a marker, or you can put the text in the hover state, or you can have the hover trigger a layer. Experiment to see which works best for what you want. I personally like layers for their flexibility, but of the three they may require the most work to perfect. Markers are probably easiest. States are most like magic, but harder to use than markers.

Hi Jill,

It sounds like you want to add a trigger to make your text appear when the mouse hovers over a certain object. You can either make your definition be a separate slide layer, or it can be in a text box or on a shape.

Here's the guide to doing so: https://community.articulate.com/series/4/articles/adding-triggers

Hi Laurel,

I have created the trigger - over the "Caution Image" when the user clicks. Where do I insert the text definition that I'd like to show up when user clicks? I am having trouble - does that go in the "Untitled Layer 1" - if so, how?

Please see attached - and thanks for your help!

Hi Jill,

Because I can't modify your Storyline file in a Word doc, I made a simple mock-up using a picture of my cat (attached here).

You'll need to preview the course to see the desired effect. Both slides look the same to the learner, however they are set up differently.

On slide 1 the definition pops in on a shape when you click the picture, and on slide 2 it pops in on a layer when you click the picture.

Hope that helps!
