Apologies for the newbie question. I would like to set up a slide master with 3 rectangles, and then for all my slides insert different text in the rectangles as well as different triggers (so the look of each slide is consistent but text and triggers differ). However I can't reference the slide master rectangles in any slide to set up the triggers. Is there a better way to do this? Thanks!!
I would suggest setting up the slide master with the rectangles, and then on each individual slide lay a text box over the top of each rectangle. That way you can apply unique text and triggers to the text boxes on each slide. Hope this helps!
Thanks Leslie! I have applied the master layout and I see the backgrounds on my slides, but I don't see the rectangles I have on the master on the timeline of my individual slides so I can add triggers--should I?
You won't be able to associate the triggers with an object that exists on your slide master - you'd have to add the triggers on the slide master itself. You could look at Scott's suggestion and use a hotspot or a shape that's transparent or similar. That would allow you to assign specific triggers to for that slide vs. at the master level.

Hi Ron!
Have you applied the master layout to the slide that you are working on?
Take a look at this tutorial for assistance.
