PowerPoint Import Issues
Jan 30, 2017
Hello everyone,
I am currently engaged with Articulate support over this but I thought I would throw this out there.
I am trying to import PPTX presentations into Articulate Storyline 2 and am having issues. I am getting an error when trying to import any type of PowerPoint file. The error points me to this location:
https://articulate.com/support/article/error-failed-to-import-powerpoint-presentation-sl2
I can assure you that I have gone through every step of these troubleshooting steps but to no avail. I have used Articulate for a few years now and have not had this issue before. I am an experienced IT person and also tried a number of network possibilities.
I am running Win 10 and Office 16 which are supported.

Hi Thomas
do you want to upload the pptx - happy to see if I can import it into SL for you...might isolate whether the issue is a ppt or SL issue.
Hello Wendy,
Thank you.
AS you can see, it is something very basic and even this one won't open in
Articulate.
Hi Thomas
I had no issue importing that pptx into SL2.
I'm running Windows 10, Office 365
Hopefully support can assist you
Thank you Wendy.
Was there any delay when you went to import? Or was it fairly quick?
I had no trouble importing into SL2 on Win 10 Office Pro 2013
Straight through Thomas no trouble at all
Thank you Walt.
Good to know
Thanks Wendy.
I now have 2 x Win 10 and 1 each of Office 2013 and Office 365.
Seems to be on my profile or network end :(
You are working locally and not from a network aren't you Thomas...I mean the SL app is on your local drive and the pptx you are trying to import is also local? Sometimes if on a network, usb or external drive you can hit snags.
I am a typical work network, but the files I am trying to import are not on a network drive; they are on my local machine. I have tried to open from a shared drive previously but that was on of the troubelshooting steps.
All the files I have been trying to open, including the one I sent you, are in My Documents folder which is stored locally. I also have admin priveledges on this machine and have tried that as well.
I am organising with my work IT support to try another machine as well, just to see how that goes.
Thanks for the idea
Thanks Thomas and I see that you're working with Miker (on case # 00994742 for my reference) so I'll follow along there as it looks like he also offered a complimentary Go To Assist session so that he could see what was happening on your end.
Hello all,
Thank you very much for all your help and suggestions. I have taken all this on board but (sigh) I had to resort to a system reinstall to try and fix the issue. It is 4 hours of my life I won't get back :)
The good news is that it worked!!
Didn't point to the root cause but I am happily importing just fine!
Thanks again
Well glad you're back to normal Thomas, but sorry you lost some work time! Let's hope that was a one time thing, but if you run into any odd behavior again don't hesitate to reach out to our team - they're around 24/7 to help!
