Powerpoint text boxes converted to images

Nov 14, 2013

When I import a PPoint deck into a Storyline project, all textboxes get converted to images meaning I cannot edit them. The text boxes are not grouped but they do have transitions.

Any ideas?

Thx!

Good Afternoon, El.

Importing PowerPoint content into Storyline is not an exact one-to-one conversion.  As a result, text may look a bit different.  And although most features in PowerPoint and Articulate Presenter are supported in Storyline, some are not.

Having said that, text boxes in PowerPoint slides should become text boxes in Storyline.  If you're finding otherwise, please send us a copy of your .ppt/.pptx file for a closer look.  Thanks!

Hi Mo!

It doesn't look like El responded, but a text box showing up as an image isn't the expected behavior. I've tested this on my end, and I see the textboxes appear as text boxes when importing a PowerPoint into Storyline 360 (Build 3.50.24668.0).

Which version of Storyline are you using? Also, do all of the text boxes display as images or just some?

With your permission, I'd like our team to take a look at the PowerPoint slide. Would you mind sharing it with us in a support case?

Hi Lauren,

Thank you for your reply and apologies for my delayed response.

I'm very new to Articulate, so not sure what I was doing but it seems to be working OK now with the text boxes imported from PowerPoint.

I am however very stuck on trying to do a software simulation and can't seem to find any videos that are relevant to exactly what I am trying to do. It is an old software I'm simulating as well so not sure if Articulate is capable of simulating that. Is there a contact I can reach out to for support. I am happy to do screen shares and demonstrate what I am trying to achieve, unfortunately I am not permitted to share any company material in email or upload to an external site. My team is pushing me towards Captivate for the simulations but I'm a bit reluctant to do that right now.

Thanks
Kind Regards

Hi Mo,

Any one of our support engineers can help troubleshoot and guide you through a file issue and will be happy to help, even if it's just a sample file that you can share. Connect here.

For software simulations, I recommend using the screen recording tool in Storyline 360 as you can insert the recording as a single slide, try-mode step-by-step slides, or turn it into a test! These resources below are a great starting point:
