Practice Scenario: Can we do this in Storyline?
Apr 16, 2014
I have a course that is set up like an "investigation" for documentation errors. I have a letter image with 4 errors on it. The storyboard is calling for the user to grab the magnifying glass and put it over each statement in the letter that is "wrong" and click the wrong statement. The designer wants correctly clicked statements to turn green with feedback, and incorrect ones to turn red with feedback.
Can we do this with some complicated array of triggers and states? I feel like if I could see an example of something like this: dragging item to click on correct/incorrect items, allowing the items to a) turn colors and b) provide feedback...then it would make sense.
Help, anyone, pretty please? Thank you very much.

Hi Gabriella -
Should be able to get this done without too much complication. The only thing that's not clear is the function of the magnifying glass. Dragging something over the top of other objects in Storyline will prevent mouse events from penetrating down to the items underneath. Is the magnifying glass necessary to the interaction?
Yes, they want the magnifying glass. This is what I was afraid of with the magnifying glass. I was thinking that if they could just use their mouse to click on clear text boxes (over sentences in the letter image) that the text boxes could change states or have triggers, but wasn't sure if it would work with the mag. glass...
What does the magnifying glass do?
Dragged objects will always pop to the top, even over top of shown layers. You might be able to accomplish this with a Web Object if you were able to find a proof reading interactive.
Ok, thank you. The magnifying glass is just supposed to be an "investigative tool" to follow the theme of the course. I appreciate the help. I appreciate the help on the question, Steve!
