Pre-loader behaviour - white dots between slides
Jul 14, 2020
Hi all
I have a sequence of around 20 slides in SL360, mix of screen capture video, audio , graphics, total published size is around 12MBytes, about 4 minutes learning time, so expecting about 50 kBps average transfer requirement.
The screen sequence is linear, so the behaviour I'm expecting to see is the preloader loading ahead a few screens.
There are a number of transitions between slides that would otherwise be seamless, but for the white loading dots appearing - I assume as the subsequent screen is not preloaded yet.
Often this is only happening for a fraction of a second, which is irritating as the actual loading delay itself would not be perceptible by the user if not for the dots appearing.
Is there a way of controlling this behaviour - other than ensuring that any smooth transitions required take place within a slide (which would be limiting for this project).
Many thanks
Chris

Hi Chris!
I'm happy to help! Do you see this behavior in Preview or the published output as well?
If you see the delay in the published output as well, would you mind sharing where you're viewing the course? Is it on a website, LMS, or Review 360?
From what you've explained, there isn't a quick fix I can offer without seeing the file. Do you mind sharing the file with me? You can attach it to this discussion by using the Add Attachment button, or you can upload it privately. Either way, I'll take a look and share my findings!
Hi Lauren, The course is currently showing this behaviour on Review 360, is it more likely on there than when published on LMS?
Many thanks
Chris
Hi Chris,
Thanks for circling back!
To make sure we give the best advice there, would you be willing to share the .story file for testing? It'll help us get a clear picture of the issue, and we'll dig in to see how the course performs in several environments.
You can send the project to us privately through this case link.
Hi Katie, I'll do some testing on the client's LMS and pick up with you again if necessary. Thanks, Chris
