Presenter 8. Importing PPT into Storyline 2, update 8. No sound accompanies the slides.

May 12, 2016

Hi all,

Up there ^^^^^ is pretty much my problem.

I did see this E-learning heroes article that said I had to keep the PPTA file with the PowerPoint file, but I could find no such PPTA file ... it's probably a downrev artifact. Just to be sure, I put the PPT in with the audio files. No joy.

Anyone have any suggestions besides "Buy Presenter 9," which is not happening in my lifetime?

Thanks a million.

Hi Kate!  I just wanted to get some clarification, since it sounded like you were mentioning an upgrade to Presenter '09... Are you currently working with Presenter 5?

You can import Articulate Studio ’09 and Studio ’13 content into Articulate Storyline 2.  You would have to upgrade your project to Presenter '09 in order to import that file into your Storyline 2 course.  The good news is that you can download Presenter '09 and reference our article about upgrading Presenter 5 courses to Presenter '09.  You'll stay in a trial version for 30 days, so think of this step as intermediary.

Let us know if you need any help!

Hi Crystal,

Thanks so much for answering. I'm running Presenter 8 - that's what it says when I bring Presenter to the front and select Help > About.

In any case, I really appreciate the articles. They have made clear that the trial version of Presenter 9 would uninstall lower-rev versions, and that Presenter 9 is not backward-compatible with lower-rev versions. Yikes! I'm one cog in a big departmental machine, and if I were to upgrade to 9, I would put myself out of step with everyone else. Good info to know. Thank you!

Hi Kate,

Well that screenshot explains it  all - you're using Adobe Presenter - not Articulate Presenter. Since they're developed and designed by different companies they won't be compatible.

I don't know enough about Adobe's version of Presenter to say what else you may be able to accomplish in terms of importing it into Storyline or Articulate Presenter - but hopefully someone here in the community is an expert!
