Prevent learners from proceeding without passing a quiz

Feb 19, 2013

I currently have a course that is made up of 3 sequential levels. I have it set up using variables to where the student cannot proceed to the next level without going through the previous level all the way. Each level has a quiz at the end of it but the learner doesn't have to pass it in order to get through to the next level. I want to make it to where the learner must have a passing grade on the quiz before he/she can proceed to the next level. If they do not pass the quiz I want them to have to go through the level again. It would be nice if I could have them be sent to the slide that corresponds with whatever question they got wrong but this is optional. I know this would involve using variables but I am trying to figure out the best way to do this. Any ideas??

Thank You,

Sami Atieh

Hi Sami,

I'm not sure if this would work for you, but I figured I'd stop by with a little suggestion. What you could do is simply set up the branching from the results layers, if you're using a results slide. Say, for example, the learner passes the quiz. On the passing layer of the results slide, you could have a button or option to move on to the next level. If they fail, they could be show an option to try the level again.

Variables would work too, it just depends on how you want to set this up and display it to the user.

I'm sure there are some more elegant ways to set this up, but just thought I'd chime in.

Good luck with the course! I'd like to see how it turns out.
